The History
           of
  Mont-Tremblant

  Starting towards the end of the 19th century, parish priest Labelle
  colonized the Laurentians area launching villages from Ste-Agathe
  to Mont-Laurier along La Diable, La Rouge & the northern La lièvre
  valleys. This also was a the layout work for the railway crossing most
  of the Laurentians.
  In 1892 the first train arrived in St-Jovite (Mont Tremblant) putting
  an end to the long period of isolation during the winter months.
  In 1938 the rich American prospector J.Ryan arrived and fell in love
  with the area after climbing to the top of Mount Tremblant.
  Impressed by the beauty of the landscape and the possibilities it
  offered, he decided to establish an alpine village including the
  famous Mont Tremblant Lodge.
  In 1991, Intrawest bought the alpine village and invested close to
  1 billion dollars with continual developments on the north side and
  also the versant Soleil soon to open a casino...

  Tremblant continues to be a much sought after destination.
